the brand

Each collection shares the philosophy that fashion is a means for nurturing self-expression and confidence, while also contributing to a sustainable environment. Lauren’s clothing brand is a full-circle operation, fusing upcycled, artisanal, vintage, and deadstock fabrics, and even compost, to transform the old into new works of art.

Made for modern women, our bold and playful collections are seasonless, consisting of limited edition and made-to-order pieces that are designed to last.

Lauren Altman is a multidisciplinary artist and fashion designer based in Brooklyn.

Her artworks are a personal invitation into her weird and curious world to discover the possibilities of playing with old clothes, paint, beads, and even compost.

Her biggest upcycled art installation to-date, “Desert Garden,” was a collaboration with Coca-Cola for Sonic Desert at Coachella. There, she transformed recycled Coca-Cola and Smartwater products into a vibrant oasis, complemented by pieces from her sustainable fashion collection, Lauren Altman Studio.

Lauren’s work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, David Nolan Gallery, and House of Yes in New York, The ArtDept. in Los Angeles, as well as internationally in London, Berlin, Mexico, and India.

She has partnered with sustainable art and fashion retailers including: Art to Ware, The Canvas Seaport, and Fireplace Concepts in New York. Her work has been featured in Page Six, OK!, Entertainment Tonight, BUST Magazine, Irk Magazine, Photobook Magazine, Grazia, Fashion Week Daily, Fashion Week Online, Time Out New York, and more.

Lauren holds a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design, an MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby's Institute of Art, and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received the Pittman Family Scholarship and a PennDesign Grant to research clothing production and textiles at the Chennai Artist Residency in India.

  • Lauren Altman shows her wit and her daring style through colorful, floral embellished handmade coats, pants and tops. Since she is a painter, I felt like I was wearing a moving canvas during the episode and I had so much fun!

  • Drawing from her background in fine art and the fashion industry, Altman embarked on a mission to redefine the concept of clothing as wearable art. At Lauren Altman Studio, she specializes in crafting one-of-a-kind pieces. Central to Altman’s philosophy is the belief that fashion should be a means for health, wellness, and sustainability.

our unique material ecosystem

An appreciation for the hand-made and small-batch is key to our approach. We source many of our fabrics from co-op, vintage, out-of-season, and donated fabric distributors.

Before we even think about recycling leftover inventory, we're already brainstorming new ways to use materials in fresh and unexpected ways in new art commissions for our clients.

We see this sustainable approach as fuel to our creative process, as it allows us to craft our very own material ecosystem.
